Hilton recently teamed up with Netflix to offer streaming in 1,500 of their hotels. Hotels are always trying to be a step ahead of the home experience to keep guests coming back. By adding Netflix, Hilton is catering to guests’ wants of watching what they want when they want. Hotel owners need to think of themselves as the guest in order to keep relevant in the industry. Using this mindset, bigger hotels have started allowing check-ins from a guest’s smartphone. Guests can also use Amazon Alexa technology devices in their rooms to direct their room to do certain things, such as control their blinds, the lights, and order room service. One thing hotels are missing is the ability to screen mirror on a monitor. Guests would be able to control exactly what is on their screen in their rooms which would provide an individualized experience. We will need to keep on eye on the changing trends in the industry to stay ahead.
